Improved monitoring and continuous control of wellheads is a critical concern in energy production and transport industries. Monitoring of oil and gas wellheads to improve well production output has become standard procedure. WIKA has developed a product specifically with a closed-loop automated production capability to help.


The WIKA E-10 explosion-proof pressure transmitter is designed for applications in the oil and gas production industry including casing and tubing pressure, wellhead monitoring, refining, pipeline transport, and natural gas compressors. The explosion-proof pressure transmitter works on the principle of containment. The pressure transmitter is enclosed in a housing that is designed to contain, control, cool, and vent any possible ignition.


WIKA’s explosion-proof pressure transmitters contain any explosions within an enclosure to prevent electrical or thermal energy from reaching the volatile atmosphere. Several methods of explosion-proofing are available, including filling the containment enclosure with oil or surrounding the electrical apparatus with molding resin or potting compound.


In the petrochemical and process industries, a high temperature pressure transmitter or pressure transducer may be subjected to uncompromising environmental conditions such as aggressive media, temperature extremes, vibration, and pulsation. The E-10 is consistently reliable, making it ideal for detecting problems or abnormal conditions in the network of tanks, vessels, pipes, and control systems that must be monitored and maintained within optimum operating tolerances.

The E-10 pressure transmitter features an NPT process connection with an all-welded stainless steel measuring cell for media compatibility, specifically designed with no internal soft sealing materials that may react with the media or deteriorate over time.


The pressure transmitter is FM-approved for Class I, Division 1 explosion-proof protection for installation in hazardous environments. Each pressure transmitter undergoes extensive quality control testing and calibration to achieve a linearity of < 0.2% full scale. In addition, each high temperature pressure transmitter is temperature compensated to assure accuracy and long-term stability even when exposed to severe ambient temperature variations.

Greenhouse gas emissions add impetus to the search for cheaper and cleaner sources of energy, wind power has emerged as a leading renewable energy source. The conversion of wind power into electrical energy is a challenging task — even for experts. Energy is created when wind is used to generate mechanical power, which is then turned into electricity. A wind turbine is a rotating machine that converts the kinetic energy of wind into mechanical energy. The electricity generated is then used to provide power to electrical grids, and to provide power to homes and businesses. Wind turbines can be used to generate renewable energy both onshore and offshore.
Wind turbines work in the opposite fashion of fans; instead of using electricity to produce wind, turbines use wind to make electricity. The wind turns the blades, which spins the shaft connected to a generator and produces electricity. The A-10 pressure transmitter is used to control the pitch of the blades and the rotation of the head, and to apply brake pressure to the head and blades to keep them from moving too quickly when necessary.
Since wind speeds are never constant, an adjustable control system enables the turbine to be tuned for high and low wind velocities. Modern wind power generation plants use a “pitch system” that adjusts the blades to changes in the forces acting upon them. The pitch system is controlled by hydraulics, and the hydraulic circuit uses pressure feedback to assist in optimization. The A-10 pressure transmitter provides reliable and accurate pressure feedback.

 A wind power plant can operate even where there is a relatively weak air movement, and can always run at a high degree of efficiency. Wind turbines are an important element in the development of renewable energy resources and cutting our dependency on fossil fuels.

Why Use DFT’s ALC and WLC Wafer Check Valves
Water hammer and reverse flow can be ongoing issues for commercial buildings and industrial piping. Unreliable double door or butterfly check valve are most often utilized and the results are these damaging issues. Failure of the door spring or hinge pin; leakage from misaligned doors and seats; reverse flow; and even internal parts flowing down stream are the result.  Damage to pumps and compressors is a costly proposition. Water hammer is a direct consequence of a slamming swing check valve. Noise above acceptable levels and vibration and swaying in the pipeline can cause catastrophic failures.
DFT’s Answer to Faulty Valve Problems
DFT has developed a valve to replace and solve these problems. DFT’s ALC Wafer Check Valve is an in-line, spring assisted, center guided “wafer” check valve which was specifically designed and manufactured to control “water hammer” and “reverse” flow.
Another DFT valve that minimizes the issues of water hammer and reverse flow is the DFT Model WLC Wafer style Silent Check Valve. The WLC is a lightweight, spring-assisted, in-line check valve that provides reliable, low maintenance service for a wide range of fluids and pressure/temperature combination.
